Embers & Injections

1. Hesperian Narcosis - 5:46
2. Tapping the Vein of the Sun - 5:08

Not much to say about this one. Two unreleased tracks from the Opiate Andromeda sessions.

Here are the lyrics, for those interested:

Hesperian Narcosis

The petals of nostalgia
Lace the asphodel, unborn and burning
Memories of mercury and anodyne
Star-covered opiate scarring the darkness

Tapping the Vein of the Sun

The vein suffers the needle
A day of arsenic and sleeping in the glades
Dust of absinthe, bed of mint
The burden of the tipsy black shade
There’s no sunrise in the catacombs

The Close-quartered Depression; The Slight Soul-depravity

Any popular treatment of depression suggests a harrowing fatigue of the character, a void mechanism actualized – or, in some cases, a Schopenhauerian lapse into the mental engineering of pessimisms. Truly, it borrows much of its tautological vacuity from the centralized thinking present in the microcosmic branch of diagnostic psychology. The backwater reasoning usually supplied in instances of this haine de soi consists of marginal exercises in petty, half-dollar relationships between individual & individual (if at all the individual is even considered, in cases where the self becomes self-less, the modus operandi of the psychiatrists is to point with singular emphasis at abstractions; aggravated past events, reticent memories, impressions of guilt, etc.), and without any intuitive condemnation of the ostensible factors which so direct the individual into the temptations of loathing.
Simply, the individual is made embittered with himself, in spite of himself, so that his responsibility of recovery is a favor to himself! The problem, and, then, the solution, lies within the gnarled, pitted consensus of the individual; any qualifying introspection into him would provide the tiniest network of reference, but at the great, monstrous peril of indebting his thinking with the obstructions of fantasy remedies and cloak-magic generally inherent in the closeted philosophies of primal witchcraft. Perhaps I’m not being clear – the individual, in his trap of despair, becomes at once a slowly detonating instrument, acerbically confined to his own reflexive means of survival, so that not by personal solution, but by informal irresolution does he reflect that his sickness is even conquerable. And doubtless wears he the mask of shame! Profoundly enough, I resent all descriptions of remedy and corrective method, preferring instead a more holistic, and admittedly heuristic approach:

I urge you all to try this! Look no more to pill bottles and self-help guides; this little bit of snake-oil proves 100% effective!

Warmly,

Rara Avis In Terris

It is with deep pleasure that I announce the release of White Fire Laudanum, a work shadowed in hypnosis and steeped in specters. The album comes available as a digipack CD, limited to 300 copes (opiates not included). This is, as stated before, the first release to feature another individual (Ronald A. Andruchuk, drums). A little girl picks a needle into the skin of her arm, heaps of playful weeps; little girl blood figures out of black-tar veins - as gently as swans fucking. The despair-conquering elation; the overcomingdose. It is proper, too, that this should be the first release on a label, by way of the glorious Prison Tatt Records. My utter disgust with the methodologies and ill-borne practice policies of your common "black metal" label have for years prevented me from pursuing a more traditional release method, but I had to stifle my lesser inhibitions when I was approached by a one Wm. M. Berger to evaluate the possibilities of working again with a record label, despite my rather languid prepossessions, and whom - this gentleman of darkness - convinced me of the decency behind a small portion of the "industry." You will do well to support the artist AND the artist behind the artist by picking up a copy of this starved piece of misery: HERE.

In related news, if you are not aware, I also have an EP available on tape AND Cd-r format, Opiate Andromeda, released in, of course, very limited quantities by Depressive Illusions Records and Rigorism Production respectively. Both venerable independent labels that deserve support.

Heaps of playful weeps,

Can you hear the rosaries of clouds?

As far as Dhampyr is concerned, the new album (and the first to be released physically), will be available later this Spring/Summer on PRISON TATT RECORDS. If interested, you may purchase a copy directly from me, by means of the e-mail provided below, or, perhaps more efficiently, from the PRISON TATT web-domain. If you liked SPOILED NOSTALGIA, you'll enjoy this disc.

In related news, I intend to gather a couple musicians to begin work on a new project, quite unlike anything I've done before. Though still in its conceptual stages, the project will encompass a diversity of ideas and forms which will, hopefully, emerge as something cohesively sound. I shouldn't go into too much detail, but I can say with full certainty it WON'T be Black Metal. Far removed, in fact. Additionally, if you are a female vocalist looking to collaborate on this project, you may also contact me through mail. More information on this project as I flesh it out.

PRISON TATT

It is my pleasure to announce that DHAMPYR is officially working alongside Prison Tatt Records to bring you the next full-length album. "White Fire Laudanum" comprises 9 tracks of ambient psychotic Black Metal; the record will be available in limited quantities in "digipak" format. I will post an update as soon as the CD is open for purchase. In the meanwhile, I am posting two "preview" tracks off the album for your consideration.

Absurdities and Matrimonies.

I am pleased to announce that Ronald "Armand" Andruchuk has joined DHAMPYR full-time. Ronald will be handling all percussive and rhythm duties, and will make his first appearance further on in the year. Ronald brings with him years of experience, evinced by his time spent with the phenomenal RI-based act, GRAVESIDE SERVICE. You may also be familiar with Ronald's graphic art in the shape of Xasthur's stupendous 2010 release, "PORTAL OF SORROW."

Updates concerning the new album coming soon...

A piece of horrible time registers before my vacant eyes; expressionless, sundering void.

Dhampyr's second full-length record, "White Fire Laudanum," is, as of now, slated for an early February release. The album will primarily serve as an introduction to the Dhampyr project as a "real" entity, a consummate and whole expression of the many ideas I've tinkered with for the last few years. I've investigated many options and formats for this release, and have insofar decided, defecting from my former wishes, to release the album physically, on both CD and tape.
In the meantime, keep those wrists bleeding.

Sunday, January 2, 2011

I am currently preparing an album for release in the late Winter of 2011, tentatively titled "White Harvest." This will be my most comprehensive work to date, enveloping and expounding on numerous ideas and sounds earlier heard on demos such as "The Perishing Well" and "To Vanish Into the Earth," among others. I have high expectations for this album, which is pretty fucking surprising when you appreciate the motives behind the compositions - quite comparable, if I may, to the motives one feels as he draws a dilapidated razor to his veins and tarnishes them, pinching the skin together in contraction. Creating folds. Penetrating again.

The album may or may not be released formally, and I may even choose to release and distribute it myself. I have a strong distaste for most labels and their methods, which, at bottom, are commercially-driven and funded by lewd ethics. Here's a preview, perhaps one of the more palatable tracks on the album. Really, one of the only instrumentals I've ever recorded without scoffing.
